![]() Sadly, we live in a society of inequality, ego-driven greed for power and status. I believe most of us, when connected to deeper wisdom, are informed by inner guidance that lets us know what would be right for us in any given moment. Integrity as a practice is more than intellectual. Standing up for what you believe is right.Choosing truth over the path of least resistance.Honoring your values and needs rather than over compromising for others.Taking responsibility for mistakes and apologizing when necessary. Not withholding or keeping secrets, but being honest.Speaking authentically even if you know it might not be what others want to hear. There are many more examples of acting with integrity than those included in the list below, but they are a good start when looking for examples of public integrity in daily life. That means each and everyone one of us, regardless of our background or self-image, has the ability to act with integrity. Rather than a noun, integrity is a verb: it’s a way of acting in alignment with deepest, authentic morals and values. It’s a practice that can be refined and developed. It’s worth keeping in mind that integrity isn’t something people have or don’t have. Ethical principles: Examples of integrity Personally, I see integrity as a meta-value - it’s the value that holds others in place, that points to acting in a way that feels authentic and right, even when those decisions are difficult or uncomfortable to make. We can have integrity in our work, in our relationships, in the way we relate to the wider world. It also lies in the subtle connection to our desires, needs, and inner intuition. Integrity isn’t only acting in accordance with the golden rule: treat others how you would like to be treated. Although GIMP is primarily an image editor, it also supports PDF editing. Even as late as the film's screening at the 2014 Toronto International Film Festival some playbills still made this claim, and the posters had to be reprinted before opening. Hamm's schedule was too tight and the role ultimately went to Tim Blake Nelson, but in spite of this the story that Hamm was in the movie persisted. In an early interview with Franco in 2013, the director suggested he wanted Jon Hamm in the role of Mr. Seth Rogen as Telegraph operator (cameo). The film focuses on the Compson family, and their struggles to adjust to the changing society of the 20th century Deep South, told from four different perspectives: the mentally disabled Benjy Compson, the fragile intellectual Quentin, the vile Jason and his family's old black servant, Dilsey. The Why: Advantages and Disadvantages of Plaintext Files NOTE: For a how-to post on migrating off of Evernote, check out Post-Evernote: How to Migrate Your Notes, Images and Tag into Plain Text Markdown. Writing is arguably the critical ingredient to how we think and learn. If you can’t write about something coherently and intelligibly, then your thinking on that topic or subject is vague and incomplete. Similarly, I’d argue writing is a key aspect to personal and professional organization too. Often through lists, note-taking, project management tools, or a process journal, we write out our plans, goals, intentions and other aspects that clarify what we want to accomplish. Writing allows us to express vague feelings and turn them into intentions and goals. Writing is also a way to keep track of things. It is argued that written language evolved largely as a mean to help us keep track of early business transactions. Writing is central factor in externalizing our memory. It also provides how we pass knowledge from generation to generation. Over the years, I’ve used a number of tools to help me write, learn, and stay organized. You can change the title, the content, the tags - as long as the ID remains the same, the rest of your archive will not be affected.I elected not to switch to another note-taking app and instead started using just plain text files. Linking notes by an arbitrary identifier (we suggest using date-based numbers for that purpose) helps keep links stable between notes. (Also, file name changes usually feel more important than tag changes to me.) When you get used to using tags like this, it's easier to change a note fundamentally in the future, like splitting its contents into multiple other notes, extracting each informational part as its own piece, then leave the original as an index, subsequently changing tags to better fit its new contents. Tags are loose connection between notes, and you can add or drop them from notes anytime without much effort. It makes your thinking more rigid, though. The name prefix doesn't have any advantage when it comes to full-text search. Using the search, you can drill down your recipes by searching for #recipe #low-carb #cake, for example, hopefully resulting in a low-carb cake recipe But now you can add other tags, too, like #baking, #low-carb, #cake, or what have you. This doesn't produce any benefit on its own, except maybe show more of the actual note title because you can remove the repeating "recipe" prefix. Then you can use the full-text search for "#recipe" to get to the set of notes that are recipes. I'd suggest you try to move the info "this is a recipe" from the file name into the note text as a tag: #recipe. This mimicks a rigid directory structure. The note title structures you use are useful when you sort notes by name: then you have all recipes next to one another, for example. Let me tackle the note-related question first: How does The Archive handle images? Is there a tool that will allow viewing of 'The Archive' notes on iOS and include images? On iOS I am currently using Editorial and have used 1Writer in the past. How could i transfer this structure to Zettelkasten? I have very few links between notes or tags.ģ. I have set up nvalt using the note title as means of finding my way around my notes. What are the functional differences between NVAlt and The archive, on the surface they seem very similar appsĢ. The fit is exactly the same between both boots, as they’re both made on Red Wing’s No. (The argument is stronger if you believe the Iron Ranger offers more protection because it has more leather covering the heel and the toe.) One could argue the extra stitch makes the Iron Ranger more heavy duty, but it’s very unlikely that there’s any practical advantage as far as durability goes, at least with regard to the stitching. The Blacksmith (both on the heel and running up the backstay) is double stitched, once more making it a hair less casual. The counter/backstay on the Iron Ranger is secured with Red Wing’s famous triple stitch, while. So the backstay is broader on the Iron Ranger and offers a bit more protection to the heels, since it results in two pieces of leather covering them. The Blacksmith’s backstay just stays on the back of the ankle. On the Iron Ranger, the counter (heel) and backstay are all one, kind of upside-down-T-shaped piece of leather. That’s the name for the strip of leather running up the back of the heel. I measured the Iron Ranger at ~6.25 inches high at its highest and the Blacksmith at ~5.75 inches. The iron ranger is about a half inch taller before it starts to swoop downward. That takes a bit more labor to do, but over time the edge is less likely to get frayed if it’s rolled. “Rolled” means there’s another piece of leather rolled over the top of the edges on the top of the shaft. The edges are raw on the Iron Ranger and they’re rolled on the Blacksmith. There are two rows of visible stitching on the Iron Ranger but one on the Blacksmith, and.The collar is flat on the Blacksmith but it curves downward on the Iron Ranger. The collar - that’s the opening at the top of the boot where you slide your foot in - has a few differences, but I wanted this to be a list of ten and not eleven differences, so I’m lumping them all into this entry! They are: Unlike Red Wing’s moc toes, both of these boots have three pairs of speed hooks, which makes them easier to get on and off. They’re shiny nickel on the Iron Ranger and dull gilt on the Blacksmiths. That’s the main bullet point when comparing these boots: while they’re both very casual, the Blacksmith dresses up ever so slightly better. The waxed cotton laces are stickier and a little more annoying to work with, but less likely to come undone, plus they’re just a little bit dressier. Iron Rangers come with these round, parachute cord, nylon laces, the Blacksmiths are flat waxed cotton. Iron rangers are $30 dollars more expensive. So while it’s not a steel toe boot, the toecap does offer a modicum of extra protection relative to the Blacksmith, which is probably why there’s a difference in… Pretty simple stuff, though it’s worth emphasizing the Iron Ranger’s toecap is real: it’s an actual extra layer of leather over the toe of the boot, secured with four stitches. The Iron Ranger has a toecap, the Blacksmith doesn’t. The differences are something a lot of people wonder about, so let’s start with the obvious one. The leather comes from the same tannery, although not all the same leathers are available for both boots. The last - the shoes contour and fit the foot in the exact same way.The leather insole, steel shank, and cork filling. What are the similarities between these iconic boots?
